 27th april 2007: Coca Steamboat

zhu wo sheng ri kuai le.

this year’s birthday was a simple affair.

had dinner with family at coca steamboat and then home for birthday cake.

no chalets, no clubbings, no surprises. (expect for the two babes who sang a birthday song to me just outside my doorstep at 11.40pm)

btw, i love you babes, although it was really embarrassing!

anyways, the service at coca sucks. as we were seated near the main door, all the waitresses and waiters flocked around inside and refused to check the tables in the front. we had to walk towards the kitchen area personally or wave like hell to get someone’s attention. service at the international building outlet was tons better. utter disappointment. tsk tsk.

anyway thanks for all the blessings and wishes. was really touched and surprised to receive greetings from pple whom i’ve not contacted with for sometime, or some who i don’t really know well.

hmm, was also quite disappointed with pple whom i presumed were close to me but actually forgot or wished me late.

but, better late den never right?

looking at it now makes me hungry again. but i would probably never return to the TAKA outlet ever again. hmmph!

we ditched cafe del mar for sakae sushi as afresco was full and we can’t order food out at the beach. and the service staff was so sucky. i asked whether there are still tables available in afresco and she actually gave me a fucked up look and told me to go in and check in out myself. we were hesistating on whether to approach her supervisor and i decided not to let this small fry spoil my day. urgh!

anyway, there was a long long queue outside sakae sushi too.

we were so hungry we actually listed down the things to order while waiting and immediately upon sitting down, we ordered one whole shot! and regretted after that as we realized we didn’t really have such a huge appetite! and of course the bill was a whopping sum too!

we ate the sashimi but not the rice (as you can tell from the pic)

next we proceeded to coastes while waiting for my beloved boyfriend to pick us up.

23/04/07: Fish & co. dinner 

so i met up with the laurie and the ATTACHED shidd ytd for dinner at fish & co. glasshouse.

 first time at the outlet. it was beautiful, although i still prefer the one at changi airport T2. better ambience, better lighting. however i would say the service was tons better at glasshouse. i even nominated some waitress when i was approached to do the feedback!

and of course we took some photos. (clears throat) d’cruz, you forgot to bluetooth me the ones in your phone.

21/04/2007: Vivocity/Chalet @ Pasir ris

initially wanted to watch ‘Wild Hogs’ or ‘20 pounds beauty’ at vivo, but only the front row seats for ‘wild hogs’ were available. Thus, we decided on ‘Fracture’, an intelligent movie starring Anthony Hopkins. The genre would be a cross between crime and thriller i would say. do watch it. totally worth the S$9.50.

sec sch gathering

went aloha loyang with yinxia just this wednesday.

jing wen claimed it was a secondary school gathering, in the end we realized only 3 of our ex secondary 4 classmates were there. mainly, you rong, andrew and jing wen. so we found out that it was andrew gf’s seventeeth bday, and the remaining ppl were ALL his gf’s friends. it was super awkward. firstly, we were starving like hell and they were too busy with majong to even invite us to eat. secondly, we didnt even bring a present lah. it was like going there for free food, or rather, bai(2)chi(1)bai(2)he(1). thirdly noone really bothered with us, so we had to help ourselves with drinks and food.

jingwen added that the rest of our ex-classmates would be there later 11plus or the following day and asked whether we wanted to stay. yinxia and i were in formal wear okays, not to mention that we had to wake up at 6plus for work the following day. so, having filled our tummys (and andrew gf’s blowing the candles), we decided to make a move.

not really blaming jing wen for that particular incident above laa, but sometimes i truly believe in making your guests feel comfortable and at ease lah. i often ask myself why do ppl often organize chalets, bbqs, celebrations but fail to ensure that their celebrations are successful ones??

i would love to organize a huge huge gathering soon. probably one day i’ll invite all the people that i’ve known through poly life and the following day would be all of my sec sch mates, include those whom i’ve spoken to or had acquaintances with while at yishun town sec sch.

but this sounds so 21st birthday right?

 hmm. but i’m afraid when i turn 21st, friends will lose contact, guys will be in army or most of the rest will be studying or working, and noone’s available to turn up.

As i am typing away in the office now, the manager is packing her stuff and leaving for the day.

On leave again. since i started working, she has taken 1 MC and 1 1/2 days’ leave.

She mentioned ytd during lunch that her annual leave is as pathetic as mine —> 10days per annum.

Obviously, she’s wasting her leave lah. i’m planning to take a full 10days leave at the end of the year to go for a LONG LONG holiday. not worth it to waste it at this point of time, since most of time i’m blogging or slacking at work. okays, sorry to those pple who are slogging their guts out.

anyway, i have good news! i apologise if you may think i’m KPO or BIG mouth dal, but i just cannot resist announcing it for you! it’s something worth to tell the whole world about wad. super proud and envious of YOUU!

enough of all that CRAP. miss dalphane ng wei yee has just been offered a job at Credit Suisse bank as an operations analyst!! her pay is double, NOPE, plus allowances probably triple of mine LAA. so much for studying hard and getting a 3.3 GPA. well well, congrats and work hard my dear girl

life’s been good, admin manager’s really nice, lunched with her everyday at our canteen here at new tech park. realised that we actually like the SAME food. totally. we ordered malay rice that day and we actually ordered the same three dishes. ordered chinese zha cai fan (mixed rice??) and we ordered the same again. crazy right.

anyway, NO MORE LUNCHES with the GM. heh heh. hopefully.

got more work to do recently, such as making flight reservations, ordering supplies, raising vendor payments, etc. hopefully as time goes by, i’ll be occupied from 8.30am to 5.30pm daily

so, we went to MOS that saturday to celebrate Ms SHIDD’s 20th birthday and also recently heard that SOMEONE is attached arrr. congratulations! may this relationship be the happiest, loveliest, sweetest and definitely, the LAST one for you ADAM

anyways, laurie couldn’t make it at the last minute and it was left with shilin, laurie, dalphane, jin yong and his 3 dear friends– ivan, louis and one guy whom i cant seem to recall his name. it was duper fun, though it was super crowded and packed and cramped. JY and friends had their fair share of girls while we had our fair share of… *er-hem* FUN. what were you thinking pple??

 well well, so i met up with the meowie and QI (my long lost sec sch dear friend) for a small celebration, as she’s turning 20 this coming saturday. had steamboat and ALMOST went singing (but was postponed due to certain confidential reasons) and took hell load of pictures! don’t worry i’ll upload them soon when i’m back at home.

 YESHH. am in the office right now. typing happily away. manager is back from leave, hope she’ll give me more work to do! yess.. more is good. how i wish RIGHT NOW time really flies.

 THE PAST 2 days when my manager was on leave was total disaster for me. the GM asked me along for lunch and of course i couldn’t reject him (just started working, gotta act friendly). First day (WED) he went to pick up his wife before proceeding to serangoon gardens, and he paid for lunch. I kept insisting that i pay for my own meals but he refused. After that he sent his wife back home and also took some medication.

The following day, which was yesterday (hopefully the last day to have lunch with him), he asked what was my fave food when we were going for lunch. I told him anything was fine with me, but he continued by asking whether i liked Japanese food. Being honest, i said yes, and YOU KNOW WHAT? he actually brought me to SUSHI TEI. SUPER DUPER AWKWARD leh. and of course, he insisted on paying AGAIN. i told him if he continued paying everyday, it will be very BO HUA (not worth it) for him, and guess what? he actually said, “you just started working, I can afford to eat at restaurants everyday, you can’t,”

WHAT THE HELL right.

he is nice, he is rich. so what. it doesn’t mean that he can look down on ME.

i swear to god i’ll work hard from today onwards and one day be richer and better than HIM!

Of course, i had a way of fighting back. immediately, i replied saying that, “if you eat at restaurants everyday, you’ll surely be bored of them very soon,” and he kept quiet.

 BAD OLD MAN.

my mum says all GMs are like that, they have their own character, the same look and way of speaking. make sense, but don’t look down on pple ma. they are rich so waddd.

HAHA. my nice admin manager just told me to find things to keep myself busy. AM I LUCKY OR WHATT.

the working world

FYI:

Am currently working for Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment International Pte. Ltd. (AMEC for short) as an admin + customer service assistant.

 Basically, i report to the administration manager and sometimes perform basic secretarial work for the GM.

 The office is located at Lorong Chuan (near Serangoon area) in case anyone fancy a lunching partner. haha.

 Anyway, 3days into work- basically my job scope includes: Blogging, surfing the net, answering phone calls (approx. 3-5 per day), transferring calls to GM or Admin Manager (only 2ppl in the office), reading blogs, visiting forums, photocopying and scanning of documents, data entry into Excel spreadsheet, dreaming….etc.

 You must really envy me huh? or u may ask why did i rush myself into this situation?

 WHY?

well. initially, i went for several interviews, either the pay sucks, or the job scope sucks or the interviewer sucks.

interview at AMEC was a success, the manager was nice, the prospects are good. i’m entitled to 3000 shares of AMEC stock options, annual incentive under the AMECN MBO incentive program, one month’s bonus and an acceptable salary. 

 THAT’S WHY.

 But i didn’t know that because they are a start-up co. and still planning to go IPO, there is really nothing much for me to do. Except probably the most challenging task is to source for office stationery supplier!!

 i’m sorry i’m being a complain queen.

 But can someone nice kindly advise whether I should stay on or tender my resignation after 90days?

Terribly sorry for being AWOL from the blogging scene since 31 Dec 2006.

Especially to those once faithful visitors who have eventually gave up on refreshing my blogspot page. (Shi Lin i hope you are reading this now.)

i seriously did thought of penning down my thoughts umpteen times but was often tempted and lured over by other variables such as the TV, food, interesting blogs, laziness and more.

Anyways, there really wasn’t anything exceptionally interesting about ma life that i’ve to note it down in picture and words. Firstly, my life has been revolving around lots of Classifieds Ads, interviews, job application forms, phone calls and of course outings now and then.

Secondly, the BF was in India going through military training for the past 3 weeks, which explains the lack of interesting events. Of course, no BF does not equate to no fun. No BF may sometimes increase the FUN factor as I get to enjoy the lil midnight escapades with my beloved Girlfriends or with the Sister. oh dear, i am indeed contradicting myself. NVM.

Next reason why i’ve been missing was because i accidentally reformated my computer by clicking the ’system recovery’ icon when the computer was down. all the pictures, songs, programs, everything gone with a mere click of the mouse. i was too devasted to even look at my com, not say try to go to an empty ‘my documents’ folder. don’t worry, i’m fine now. at least i have my GENTING photos to look at!!

yes yes yes… i just returned from genting with the BF. went for a short 4D3N trip upon his return from India to celebrate his 21st birthday. nothing special, just a simple sweet vacation. (or what laurie calls a pre-honeymoon trip?) haha will upload the photos soon, if i manage to figure out how wordpress works. i think i need your help here laurie, anyway it was ms d’cruz who introduced me to wordpress one month ago (in case wordpress’ searching for an advocate or an endorsement), and i’ve yet to really explore all the funny technical jargons.

okay, that was totally irrelevant… so we stayed at First World Hotel and went to both the indoor and outdoor theme park. Indoor wasn’t that fantastic, we only took the euro-express (supposedly thrilling ride) and went for the motion master stimulator ride (and found out that the 3D glasses were totally useless). Outdoor was fantabulous! We managed to take all the rides despite the rain but did not have the courage to go on the SPACE SHOT. it was too scary for me.. and him. haha but i enjoyed corkscrew, flying coaster and the flume ride!!
